When is the right time to freeze my eggs?

How Does Egg Freezing Work?
Pre-treatment Consultation
A series of tests and fertility assessments will be performed to your ovarian reserve and overall reproductive health. Your doctor will use the findings to develop a personalised treatment plan that outlines the steps for egg retrieval and freezing, ensuring the best possible outcome for the patient.
Ovarian Stimulation
Hormone injections are administered to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs in a single cycle. Close monitoring is essential during ovarian stimulation to track the response of the ovaries to the hormones and to adjust the treatment as necessary.
Egg Retrieval
After the eggs have matured, they will be collected from the ovaries using a thin needle, which is carefully inserted through the vaginal wall under direct ultrasound guidance while the patient is under sedation.
Freezing Techniques
The collected eggs will be examined, with only the viable ones being chosen for freezing. A rapid-freeze technique known as vitrification, allows them to be stored for future use. Vitrification is preferred over traditional slow-freezing methods due to its higher success rates in maintaining egg viability and quality.

How Do You Prepare For An Egg Freezing Procedure?
Before
Consult your doctor: Consult with your fertility specialist to understand the procedure, risks, and any pretreatment requirements.
Lifestyle adjustments: Adopting a healthy lifestyle in the months leading up to your egg retrieval is advisable.
During
Stay calm: The egg retrieval procedure is typically performed under sedation and lasts about 30 minutes. It may take longer if there are multiple eggs. During the procedure, a thin needle is inserted through the vaginal wall using an ultrasound probe for guidance, allowing the doctor to gently aspirate the mature eggs from the ovarian follicles.
Follow post-procedure instructions: Avoid strenuous activities and follow the instructions provided by your doctor.
Post Care/Follow up
Attend follow-up appointments: Post-retrieval, you will have a follow-up appointment to check your recovery and discuss the results. Your doctor will also advise on the next steps, whether it’s additional cycles or planning for future use of your frozen eggs.
